Future Generations Summit in Portugal

The Future Generations Summit will bring together diverse voices to advance the long-term governance and intergenerational fairness agenda in Portugal. Through dialogue, working sessions, and knowledge sharing, participants will explore systemic challenges through a futures-oriented lens.

The event will showcase national innovation in Portugal and situate it within an EU and international context, aligning with progress on the EU Intergenerational Fairness Framework and the UN Pact for the Future.

Building on Portugal’s tradition of anticipatory democracy and initiatives like the 2050 Visions for Portugal and Gulbelkian's Intergenerational Fairness Programme, the event will build momentum and aim to inspire collaborative pathways.

Expected to bring together 70-90 participants spanning generations and sectors— from civil society, government, academia, business and youth-led initiatives— the summit aims to strengthen Portugal’s leadership in shaping a sustainable and equitable future for current and future generations.
